Everything’s in Your Hands

Chorus

This is the heart of living, Give and it will be given

Everything’s in your hands, Everything’s in your hands Lord

This is law of loving, Give and I’ll want for nothing

I don’t wanna hold on too tight

Even to the good things in my life

What I put in your hands I can never lose

Cause everything Lord belongs to you

Chorus

This is the heart of living, Give and it will be given

Everything’s in your hands, Everything’s in your hands Lord

This is law of loving, Give and I’ll want for nothing

Everything’s in your hands, Everything’s in your hands, Lord

Verse

I don’t wanna hold on too tight

Even to the good things in my life

What I put in your hands I can never lose

Cause everything Lord belongs to you

Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

Verse 1

Come, thou long expected Jesus,

born to set thy people free;

from our fears and sins release us,

let us find our rest in thee.

Israel's strength and consolation,

hope of all the earth thou art;

dear desire of every nation,

joy of every longing heart.

Verse2

Born thy people to deliver,

born a child and yet a King,

born to reign in us forever,

now thy gracious kingdom bring.

By thine own eternal spirit

rule in all our hearts alone;

by thine all sufficient merit,

raise us to thy glorious throne.

Tag

By Thine all sufficient merit

Raise us to Thy glorious throne

Peace Candle Lighting and Prayer

Isaiah 2:1-12

A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse,

and a branch shall grow out of his roots.

The spirit of the LORD shall rest on him,

the spirit of wisdom and understanding,

the spirit of counsel and might,

the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

His delight shall be in the fear of the LORD.

He shall not judge by what his eyes see,

or decide by what his ears hear;

but with righteousness he shall judge the poor,

and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;

he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,

and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.

Righteousness shall be the belt around his waist,

and faithfulness the belt around his loins.

The wolf shall live with the lamb,

the leopard shall lie down with the kid,

the calf and the lion and the fatling together,

and a little child shall lead them.

The cow and the bear shall graze,

their young shall lie down together;

and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp,

and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder’s den.

They will not hurt or destroy

on all my holy mountain;

for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD

as the waters cover the sea.

On that day the root of Jesse shall stand as a signal to the peoples;

the nations shall inquire of him, and his dwelling shall be glorious.

Prayer

O God, you made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and those who are near; grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit on all flesh and hasten the coming of your kingdom, through Jesus our Lord.

In the tender mercy of our God, the dayspring from on high shall break upon us,

to give light to those who dwell in darkness and in the shadow of death,

and to guide our feet into the way of peace. Amen.

Peace

Verse 1

When my mind is like a battlefield

And my heart is overcome by fear

And hope seems like a ship that's lost at sea

My enemies on every side

And I'm tempted to run and hide

Your gentle whisper reaches out to me

Chorus

Peace holds me when I'm broken

Sweet peace that passes understanding

When the whole wide world is crashing down, I fall to my knees

And breathe in Your peace

Verse 2

Fiery arrows whistling

The terror of the night sets in

But I can feel Your angels all around

I am resting underneath

The shelter of Your mighty wings

Your promises are where my hope is found

Chorus

Peace holds me when I'm broken

Sweet peace that passes understanding

When the whole wide world is crashing down, I fall to my knees

And breathe in Your peace

Bridge

I remember who You are

You're the God who's never far

So I will not be afraid

God, You always keep me safe (Repeat)

Chorus

Peace holds me when I'm broken

Sweet peace that passes understanding

When the whole wide world is crashing down, I fall to my knees

And breathe in Your peace

Scripture

Matthew 3:1-10 NRSV

In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:

“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
    make straight paths for him.’”

John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan.Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.And do not think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10 The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
