2nd Street Pantry

Giving: The pantry can purchase food at discounted rates, so financial gifts go further than food donations. To give, visit BreadandWine.Church/Give and select the “Care Fund.”

Serving: You can volunteer during Tuesday distributions by emailing 2ndstreetpantry@gmail.com. Let them know you’re from Bread + Wine and interested in helping. Additional opportunities will be available this summer.

Gateway Alternative School Collection
Gateway Alternative School in Bentonville serves at-risk students and is one of the most under-resourced schools in our area. We’ve connected with their leadership to identify current needs.

Immediate needs include: feminine hygiene products, women’s underwear (all sizes), deodorant, and t-shirts (sizes M, L, XL).

You can contribute by bringing items to the Barn or by donating to the “Care Fund” at BreadandWine.Church/Give

Indescribable

Verse 1

From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creations revealing your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming

Chorus

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God

All powerful, untameable
Awestruck, we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God

Verse 2

Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go?
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light?
Yet, conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom

Chorus 2

Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God

All powerful, untameable
Awestruck, we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God
You are amazing, God

Chorus 3
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And you know them by name
You are amazing, God

Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart
And you love me the same
You are amazing, God
You are amazing, God

Overwhelmed

Verse

I am nothing yet You bid me
Come to You, Lord Almighty
And as I come I'm overwhelmed with You
Humbly now I break the silence
As I'm weeping in Your presence
I'm so wretched, overwhelmed with You

Chorus

Your blood of redemption is covering my shame
Your voice that shakes the heavens is whispering my name
As you catch my tears with your nail scarred hands
I'm overwhelmed, overwhelmed with you
I'm overwhelmed, overwhelmed with you

Prayer

3 Movements:

Centering Focus - Reflection and Petition - The Lord’s Prayer

Centering Focus - Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

Note: Here,“catholic” means universal, as in “the whole Church.”

Reflection and Petition

(Open your life to God and say whatever needs to be said)

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, may your name be revered as holy.
May your kingdom come.
May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from evil.

Scripture

Luke 24:13-35

The Walk to Emmaus

13 Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, 14 and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, 16 but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17 And he said to them, “What are you discussing with each other while you walk along?” They stood still, looking sad.

18Then one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have taken place there in these days?” 19 He asked them, “What things?” They replied, “The things about Jesus of Nazareth,a who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20 and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be condemned to death and crucified him. 21 But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel.a Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things took place. 22 Moreover, some women of our group astounded us. They were at the tomb early this morning, 23 and when they did not find his body there, they came back and told us that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who said that he was alive. 24 Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but they did not see him.”

25 Then he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared! 26 Was it not necessary that the Messiaha should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?” 27 Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures.

28As they came near the village to which they were going, he walked ahead as if he were going on. 29 But they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, because it is almost evening and the day is now nearly over.” So he went in to stay with them.

30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight. 32 They said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning within usa while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?”

33 That same hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem; and they found the eleven and their companions gathered together. 34 They were saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and he has appeared to Simon!” 35 Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

Lyrics

Come Thou Fount

Verse 1

Come, thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the Mount! I'm fixed upon it, Mount of God's unchanging love.

Verse 2

Here I raise my Ebenezer; here by thy great help I've come;
And I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger, interposed his precious blood.

Verse 3

O to grace how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love;
Here's my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.
